Man Charged With Groping Woman Near 'U' Campus

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- University of Minnesota Police are crediting the quick thinking of a groping victim with the swift arrest of her attacker.

Officers took Joseph Leonard Jennings, 31, into custody Tuesday afternoon. According to police, he grabbed a woman from behind and groped her as she walked along the 2500 block of Delaware Street.

The victim quickly called police and provided a detailed description. Using traffic cameras, officers found him about a block away.

"For the police department, this was a success story," Lt. Dave Wilske of the U of M police said. "Everything happened the way it should, because these are rare on campus."

Jennings faces charges of 4th degree criminal sexual conduct. His criminal history shows two similar charges -- a conviction in 2010 and a guilty plea just last week.
