Man Charged After Crash Involving 8-Year-Old Driver

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man involved in a head-on crash Monday in east St. Paul told police the driver was a child.

Investigators say 25-year-old Blake Folson let his 8-year-old cousin control the pedals while he steered.

Witnesses say the boy was in the driver's seat when the car made a sudden U-turn at Reaney and Atlantic streets and crashed. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

The teary-eyed boy told police "it was stupid" to have been driving the car.

Prosecutors say Folson blew a .039, which is within the legal limit. He faces one count of gross misdemeanor child endangerment.
