Man Caught On Tip From App User Pleads Guilty To Child Porn

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A man who was a federal fugitive for more than four years before he was arrested with help from a smartphone app has pleaded guilty to two counts of child pornography.

Adney Allen is charged in North Dakota with possession and distribution of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors. The 51-year-old Allen was indicted in July 2009. He was arrested in November 2014 on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in Minnesota.

Authorities say the tipster who notified police about Allen learned of the suspect's fugitive status after the agency launched its Operation Predator app. Allen was among the app's featured fugitives.

Allen faces 30 years in prison. Sentencing is set for Sept. 14.

A federal public defender was not immediately available for comment.
