Man Arrested After Bar Stabbing In Winona

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in Winona say they arrested a 29-year-old man over the weekend after he allegedly stabbed another man in the back.

The Winona Police Department said officers were called around 1 a.m. Sunday to MC's Bar on Johnson Street on a report of a possible stabbing.

When they got to the scene, officers found a 25-year-old Minneapolis man who'd apparently suffered a stab wound to his back while he was in the bathroom.

The victim, who was not named, got treatment at the scene, was brought to Community Memorial Hospital and was eventually airlifted to LaCrosse Gundersen Hospital.

His condition was listed as serious but stable.

Police say an investigation led to the arrest of a suspect, Andre Westly Carter, of Winona. He's currently being held in custody pending formal charges of assault with a dangerous weapons.

The stabbing remains under investigation, police say. The weapon has not been recovered.
