In Benton County Court Thursday, 23-year-old Tom Souvannaphong was sentenced to 84 months -- or seven years -- in prison on two counts of criminal vehicular homicide in connection to the August 2015 incident.

According to the criminal complaint, Souvannaphong was driving drunk and speeding when he ran a red light and struck another vehicle in Sauk Rapids.

Kevin and Kathy Davey, of Hibbing, were killed and a backseat passenger was injured.

Souvannaphong also must submit a DNA sample.

Restitution was also left open, which means there will be an investigation to see if there are any claims.
