Man, 18, Charged In Fatal Minneapolis Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials say an 18-year-old Robbinsdale man is charged with shooting and killing another man last week in south Minneapolis.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office says Eugene Watkins faces a second-degree murder charge in the death of 19-year-old Jason Adams.

A criminal complaint says police found Adams bleeding last Thursday after being called to his apartment building at 2101 3rd Avenue South.

Emergency crews took Adams, who suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where he later died.

Witnesses told police that Waktins went to Adams' apartment with two others to buy drugs. Once inside, Waktins pulled out a gun and demanded marijuana.

A firefight ensued, and then Waktins and the two others fled the building.

Watkins suffered a bullet wound in the fight, and 21-year-old Trevone Seantez Little drove him to the hospital.

Little is charged with aiding an offender after the fact.

Officials say Watkins is slated to make his first court appearance on Tuesday.
