Mackenzie Phillips To Speak At 3rd Annual Hazelfest

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Actress Mackenzie Phillips has lived out her struggles with addiction and recovery in a very public way.

The daughter of The Mamas & The Papas John Phillips, Phillips rose to her own fame with a role in the film "American Graffiti."

Shortly after, she landed a spot on the sitcom "One Day at a Time." It was during her time on the show that she began to struggle with addiction.

For years after, Phillips dealt with her addiction and recovery both publicly and in private. Now, she works as a counselor at the Pasadena Recovery Center.

Phillips is in the Twin Cities this week for Hazelfest, the 3rd annual Music and Recovery Community Festival presented by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.

Hazelfest is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 on the Hazelden Campus in Center City.

Mackenzie will be in the main tent at 4 p.m. and speaking on the main stage at 6 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online for $15 through midnight. They are also available Saturday at the door for $25.
