Lynx's Reeve 1 Of 3 Coaches Named To U.S. National Team

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve, who has led her team to two WNBA titles in the last three seasons, has been named as an assistant coach for Team U.S.A in the FIBA World Championships.

Reeve will be on the coaching staff with two other assistants under head coach Geno Auriemma, the women's basketball coach at Connecticut. U.S.A. Basketball made the announcement Monday. It's the first time Reeve has been chosen to coach a national team.

Reeve has helped lead the Lynx to three straight appearances in the WNBA Finals, with two titles. That included having Olympians on the roster including Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen.

The U.S. National Team will kick off its training for the FIBA World Championships in early September at the U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland. The world championship begins on Sept. 27 in Istanbul, Turkey.
