Lynx, Wolves Staff Join Forces For 'Volunteer Day'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The staffs of the Minnesota Lynx and the Minnesota Timberwolves participated in an "All-Staff Volunteer Day" Wednesday.

Team staff members were working alongside season ticket holders, U.S. Bank employees and students to pack lunches for the homeless.

Timberwolves president Chris Wright led a team of volunteers at a school in Hopkins.

"We're going to be packaging food for some homeless people, and some people who are, you know, struggling to put food on the table for their families," Wright said.

Ella Brutos is a sixth grader, and was on Wright's team of volunteers.

"I think it's important to help other people to get food and raise money, so it's really fun to do this for other people," Brutos said.

They packed boxes for the St. Louis Park-based nonprofit group Matter, who provide meals for people in communities where they do not have access to health foods.
