Lynx 2016 Roster Retains Only 6 From Championship Team

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Lynx have set their 11-player roster for the regular season, with only six returners from last year's WNBA championship team.

The Lynx start the season Saturday against the Western Conference rival Phoenix Mercury.

Seimone Augustus, Rebekkah Brunson, Sylvia Fowles, Renee Montgomery, Maya Moore and Lindsay Whalen are the holdovers from last year. Augustus, Brunson, Moore and Whalen have been together for each of Minnesota's three titles.

The newcomers are veterans Natasha Howard and Jia Perkins and rookies Bashaara Graves and Keisha Hampton. Janel McCarville has returned to the team after sitting out the 2015 season.

Head coach Cheryl Reeve and assistants Jim Petersen and Shelley Patterson are back for their seventh season together.
