Lowry Bridge Becomes 1st In Minn. For Special Inspection

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Workers are inspecting the Lowry Avenue Bridge in Minneapolis using some new technology.

The steel-tied arch bridge is being inspected with equipment from a barge on the river, which is being used for the first time in Minnesota.

Inspections will be taking place this week from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The new Lowry Bridge opened in 2012 after a $104 million replacement project.

The historic bridge -- which links north and northeast Minneapolis -- was removed by implosion.
