Lowertown Ballpark Construction Contract Finalized

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A contract has been finalized for the construction of the new Lowertown Ballpark in St. Paul, officials announced Thursday.

The contact, between the city of St. Paul and Ryan Companies US, Inc., is the next step towards the ballpark's opening in 2015. The design was finalized in February 2013.

According to the contract details, a fixed sum contract of $43.8 million assures the city will pay a set price for the work that's been agreed upon thus far -- Ryan Companies will be responsible for any cost that goes beyond that set number.

With land acquisition, legal fees and other costs that caps the total cost of the project at $63 million.

Construction will begin this spring, and should be ready for the Saints to play ball in 2015.
