Long Lines In Minn. As Apple Releases New iPhone

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Today is the day tech geeks and Apple fans the world over have been waiting for.

The latest iPhones, the iPhone 6 and 6 plus have hit stores.

Apple set a record with more than 4 million pre-orders for the new smartphones last week.

The company hasn't been able to keep up demand.

So plenty of people--like those lined up outside the Apple store in Uptown this morning and lined up outside the Mall of America in the wee hours--are crossing their fingers they can snag one in the stores.

Other retailers that will have the phone in stock: Best Buy, Radio Shack, Staples, Sam's Club,Target, Walmart. And the major cell phone carriers: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.
