Local Music Tap: 'Rock The Garden' Moves To NE Mpls For 2016

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Fans of the "Rock The Garden" festival will be rocking out at a new location this year.

Due to construction at the Walker Art Center, the annual summer festival has been temporarily moved to Boom Island Park in Northeast Minneapolis for 2016.

"We are so pleased to have secured Boom Island as a temporary location Rock the Garden '16" Philip Bither, Director and McGuire Senior Curator for Performing Arts at the Walker, said. "This beautiful setting will allow for a one-day, multiple staged event sure to carry the same great spirit and inspired mix of music that Rock the Garden has been so noted for in the past. We look forward to returning to the gorgeously re-designed new Walker campus for Rock the Garden '17."

Bands featured at the show have yet to be announced. That'll happen on Tuesday, April 5, beginning at 9 a.m. on The Current.

Tickets will go on sale the same day to Walker and The Current members. General public will get to snag a ticket starting on Wednesday, April 6 at 10 a.m.

The festival will be held on June 18 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
