Local Music Tap: 4 Shows To See This Week(end)
It's (still) summer in the Twin Cities. And that means this weekend will be chock-full of great shows for local music fans to experience. Here's just a small — but great — sample of what this weekend has to offer.
Friday: Kara Laudon w/ A Piano In Every Home @ Amsterdam, St. Paul
Still fresh off the release of her album "I Wasn't Made" in April, Minneapolis acoustic/pop songstress Kara Laudon will be hitting the stage again this weekend at St. Paul's Amsterdam Bar.
A Piano In Every Home will also join her on Friday's bill. Doors at 8 p.m. with tickets in the $7 - $10 range.
Friday: Lungs Album Release @ Triple Rock Social Club, Mpls.
Attention, metalheads: this one's for you! Minneapolis' Lungs – who are described as post-metal/sludge/doom (it's quite spot-on) – are releasing their new album, "As Dust Reaches The Earth," at the equally rowdy Triple Rock Social Club on Friday. The 18-plus show begins at 9 p.m. and tickets are $8.
Also on the bill: Zebulon Pike, The Funeral And The Twilight, and Let It Breathe.
Saturday: ON AN ON Album Release Show @ Icehouse, Mpls.
Minneapolis-based synth pop group, ON AN ON, is back at it again, releasing their 2nd album – " And The Wave Has Two Sides" – at the Icehouse this Saturday. Doors at 10:30 p.m. with tickets at $12.
Check out their single, "Drifting," below!
Saturday & Sunday: Red Hot Art & Music Festival @ Stevens Square Park, Mpls.
Now in its 14th year, the art and music festival will again "transform the cozy charm of Stevens Square Park into an exciting festival of local art and culture."
In addition to great local art, food trucks, interactive games and demonstrations, there is a lot of good music happening, too.
