Local Music Tap: 4 Shows To See For This Week(end)

From a vinyl release party at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis to some 50's vibes making their way to the Amsterdam in St. Paul, here are the four shows to see this weekend.

FRIDAY: City Of Sound Vinyl Release @ First Avenue

Minneapolis-based rockers, City Of Sound, are celebrating the release of "Rebirth" their third studio effort – and first vinyl record – at 7th Street Entry Friday night.

Joining them on the bill is Hot Date, Porno Wolves and Manic Planet.

Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Doors open at 8 p.m. and music starts at 9 p.m.

Friday: Nicholas David Double-Header @ Dakota Jazz Club

Well-known former 'The Voice' contestant and St. Paul musician, Nicholas David, is bringing his soul-rock tunes to the Dakota Jazz Friday.

Demand for David was so high that the jazz club booked him twice for Friday night – 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Tickets range from $30 to $40.

Saturday: Bassist Billy Peterson Birthday Concert @ Icehouse

Billy Peterson – who happens to be a world-renown bassist from Minnesota – is celebrating his birthday at the Icehouse Saturday!

Peterson played with the Steve Miller Band for 23 years and has worked with such greats as BB King, Cynthia Johnson, Les Paul and Bob Dylan.

So, wish him a happy birthday this Saturday and listen to some amazing bass! Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Doors open at 10:30 p.m. with 11 p.m. show time.

Sunday: Shannon Mac @ Amsterdam Bar

Musicians from all over Minnesota joined up to form rockabilly/blues band Shannon Mac.

The band performs a whole gamut of styles, including doo wop ballads to blues to "foot stomping rock and roll."

Now, they're taking their 50's vibes to the Amsterdam – and it's free!

Music starts at 9 p.m.
