Local Artist Trading Artwork For State Fair Food

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) -- A local artist will either starve Sunday or eat a lot of food at the Minnesota State Fair.

Matt Semke says he will only eat what he trades for his artwork. Semke's goal is to complete one large painting every hour.

When he's done, he'll ask fairgoers to trade the paintings for very specific food items. If the painting isn't traded within an hour, he says he will destroy it.

"The funnest part is making the art and then I'm kind of done with the painting once it's completed," Semke said.

You can find Semke in the Art Building. He'll be there until 9 p.m. Sunday.
