Lightning Strikes Woman, Home In Ham Lake

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Lightning is responsible for injuring a woman at a baseball tournament and starting a house fire in two separate incidents Saturday afternoon in Ham Lake, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities received reports of lightning striking a 48-year-old woman at 2:45 p.m. at Lions Park at 155th Avenue and Central Avenue during the 2014 Blaine Classic Tournament.

She was struck while on the ground as she walked away from crowds in the stands.

She was transported to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. Her condition is unknown.

Crews were also at the scene of a house fire as a result of a lightning strike at 2304 145th Lane, which happened at about 3:30 p.m. The home is just over three miles southeast of Lions Park.
