Lawyers Reprimanded For Facebook Remarks About Jurors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) — The Clay County attorney has disciplined two prosecutors who made derogatory comments about a jury on Facebook.

KFGO-AM reports the assistant county attorneys posted the remarks after a jury found a man not guilty of sexual misconduct. Prosecutor Pam Harris referred to the jury as "12 idiots." Prosecutor Jenny Samarzja replied with the comment, "Wake up people."

Clay County Attorney Brian Melton says he apologized to the jurors because the remarks were "completely and utterly wrong." He says his office investigated the prosecutors after courthouse staff told him about the comments.

Melton says the attorneys have been given written reprimands and it's possible they could be further disciplined.
