Xcel Energy: Power Restored After Outage In Northwest Metro

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Thousands of residents in the northwest Twin Cities metro are starting their Friday without power.

Officials with Xcel Energy said more than 9,000 people are affected by a large outage that was reported just after 5 a.m. The areas most affected include Brooklyn Park and Champlin, Coon Rapids, Osseo, Maple Grove and Minneapolis. Crews are out working to restore electricity as soon as possible.

Xcel Energy officials said the issue was fixed and power was restored by about 8 a.m. Officials said they are looking into what caused the outage.
