Hennepin County Declares Ice Out On Lake Minnetonka

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It's official! It's an ice out on Lake Minnetonka!

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and Freshwater Society declared an "ice out" on Lake Minnetonka early Thursday morning.

Just after midnight, Hennepin County announced the ice out via Twitter.

HCSO and @FreshwaterSoc declared "Ice Out" on Lake Mtka at 12:16 am--the 2nd earliest on record. You can thank the recent rain and wind.

This is the second earliest ice out on record. The earliest for Lake Minnetonka was March 11, 1878.
