Klondike Kate Visits The Minnesota State Fair

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Klondike Kates are making a trip to the Minnesota State Fair Wednesday!

Klondike Kate is a beloved part of the Winter Carnival. As the carnival is just 148 days away, the Kates are already recruiting contestants for the 2017 Klondike Kate competition.

Theresa McConnen, the reigning Klondike Kate; Darive Koepke, Klondike Kate 2007; Shelley Brown, Klondike Kate 2015, and Anita Mack, Klondike Kate 2013, will visit WCCO-TV to share information on how to join their group.

Candidates must be 21-years or older, be good singers and "have a brassy personality."

A "Wanna Be Tea" will be held on Sept. 25 for potential contestants. The official Klondike Kate competition will take place on Jan. 11, 2017 at the Prom Center in Oakdale.

For more information on how to become a Klondike Kate, visit the Winter Carnival online.
