Klobuchar: No Interest In US Attorney General Job
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar says she's not interested in taking over as U.S. attorney general.
Klobuchar's name is being mentioned in political circles as a possible successor after current Attorney General Eric Holder's surprise resignation Thursday. But the Minnesota Democrat told the Associated Press she doesn't want her name on any short lists.
Klobuchar says she likes her job in the U.S. Senate and wants to stay there. She has served in the Senate since her election in 2006 and previously spent nearly a decade as the top attorney in Minnesota's largest county, Hennepin County.
President Barack Obama was expected to formally announce Holder's departure Thursday afternoon. Holder plans to remain at the Justice Department until a successor is chosen.
