Klobuchar Mentioned As Possible Scalia Replacement
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar is one of the people being mentioned as a possible replacement for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
A USA Today article with a list of 10 possible successors includes the Democrat from Minnesota.
"If the Senate would be less inclined to block one of its own, the senior senator from Minnesota, 55, might be someone Obama would consider," the article said.
Klobuchar, a former prosecutor, has not commented on the speculation.
She just released a statement saying her condolences and prayers are with Scalia's family, friends and Supreme Court colleagues.
The former Supreme Court justice was found dead on Saturday at a ranch in Texas at the age of 79. He is thought to have died of natural causes.
President Barack Obama says he will appoint a replacement for Scalia in due time.
Meanwhile, the GOP presidential candidates all said that Obama should not nominate a successor for Scalia.
