Kling To Debut New Work At Minneapolis' Open Eye

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Storyteller and playwright Kevin Kling debuts a new work at Open Eye Figure Theatre in Minneapolis next month.

"Hammer, Anvil and Stirrup" marks the eighth year in a row that Kling has created a work for the Open Eye stage. Previous Kling works have explored themes including trauma recovery, fairy tales and politics.

This year's production — "Hammer, Anvil and Stirrup" — is named for the tiny bones in the inner ear. Kling will be joined on stage by cellists and vocalists Michelle Kinney and Jacqueline Ultan as they explore the science of waves in sound, light, water and emotion.

The production runs from Aug. 6-11.
