Kill Appreciative Of Raise, Extension At Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Jerry Kill says he's "getting paid way too much" to be Minnesota's coach but appreciative of the raise and contract extension he received.

Kill spoke Monday at a news conference, two days after his deal was redone to add another year and an average of more than $1 million annually in additional compensation.

Kill said he's the same person now as he was early in his coaching career when he was living in a trailer and making $250 per month.

Kill's restructured contract includes a stipulation that the total pay for his coaching staff must rank in the top six of the Big Ten. He said he wouldn't have signed the deal without that.
