Judge Issues Ban On Gang Members For St. Paul's Cinco De Mayo Celebration

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A ban has been issued against eight known gang members, preventing them from attending St. Paul's Cinco de Mayo celebration.

A judge issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting members from the group "Hit Squad" from the festival Saturday. The city filed an injunction Tuesday.

The city attorney's office says the gang has a substantial, growing presence in St. Paul.

Members have been tied to attempted murders, shootings and assaults.

Similar bans have been issued for past celebrations in St. Paul as a way to curb violence.
