Vikings Sign C Joe Berger To 1-Year Extension
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After Joe Berger won the starting center job in the offseason, the Minnesota Vikings are rewarding him with a contract extension.
Berger won the job after filling in last year for former starter John Sullivan, who missed all of 2015 with a back injury.
Sullivan and Berger battled for the starting job in training camp and the preseason. The Vikings ended up cutting Sullivan after trying to trade him, going with the cheaper option in Berger.
The Vikings extended Berger's contract for one year.
Berger joined the team in 2011 after stints in Miami and Dallas. The 34-year-old veteran was Pro Football Focus' highest-rated center in 2015.
