Minnesota's First Jackpot-Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold At Ramsey Gas Station

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- For the first time ever, someone in Minnesota has won the Mega Millions jackpot.

The Minnesota lottery says the winning Mega Millions jackpot came from a ticket purchased at a Holiday gas station in Ramsey.

"We are really excited. In Minnesota, someone woke up $110 million richer," said Adam Prock, Executive Director of the Minnesota Lottery.

By late Wednesday afternoon, a winner had not come forward to claim the prize.

"When people play the lottery, Minnesotans win because that money goes to great causes," said Prock.

A new law went into effect in 2021, which protects the identity of big lottery winners unless they give consent. When a winner does come forward, they can choose to take the payments in installments or nearly $70 million in cash up front.

The April 12 winning Mega Millions numbers were: 2, 8, 14, 20, and 31. The Mega Ball is 17.

The Holiday station will also earn a $50,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
