Isaac Kolstad Stands Up For First Time In Over 4 Weeks
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After completing a bone replacement surgery Friday morning, Isaac Kolstad stood up for the first time in over four weeks.
The former Minnesota State University – Mankato football player has been hospitalized since he sustained a head injury during an assault in downtown Mankato over a month ago.
On Friday, Kolstad had surgery to replace a piece of bone doctors removed from his skull.
After recovering from the surgery, Kolstad began speech therapy and physical therapy.
During physical therapy, Kolstad was able to sit on the edge of the bed with assistance, as well as stand up at least three times with assistance.
Kolstad will continue to work on holding his head and torso up, as well as standing up on his own.
Speech therapists also placed a speaking valve on Kolstad's trach and hope he will speak soon.
