Iowa Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting 2-Month-Old

ALBIA, Iowa (AP) — A man in southern Iowa has been charged with sexually assaulting a 2-month-old girl.

KCCI-TV reports the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that deputies had charged the 30-year-old man with felony child endangerment and felony sexual abuse.

Sheriff Daniel Johnson said deputies received a report of a child being sexually assaulted on Feb. 4. The child's mother brought the infant to a local hospital, and she was transported to Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines. Johnson said the infant is recovering.

An attorney for the suspect, who is being held in the Monroe County Jail, did not immediately respond to a phone request seeking comment.

The Associated Press isn't naming the suspect to avoid identifying the child.
