Investigators Ask Public For Info On I-35E Hit-And-Run
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The State Patrol is hoping the public can shed some light on a hit-and-run death on Interstate 35E.
Emily Boone, 28, was hit and killed around 9:40 p.m. Friday in St. Paul on the interstate's southbound lane near Grand Avenue. It happened right as the Wild game was letting out at the Xcel Energy Center.
The State Patrol says Boone was crawling on the freeway after falling 15 feet from a retaining wall.
"For that reason we're not certain the person who hit her may have known," said Lt. Tiffani Nielson. "That's why it's critically important anyone in the area at this time contacts our investigators, because they may have felt or heard something, and we would really like to speak to them and determine what took place."
There were a lot of people in the area, both walking and driving, who may have seen something that could help investigators.
The State Patrol says that Boone appears to have been alone when she fell the from the retaining wall. But it's still not clear if that fall was accidental or intentional.
The vehicle that hit Boone may have damage to the driver's side or undercarriage.
Authorities still don't know why Boone was walking near the interstate, but they do say that she lived nearby.
It's also unclear if alcohol was a factor in Boone's death. Authorities are waiting for the results of the toxicology report, which could take more than a month to come back.
