Ichiban Closes In Downtown Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After 36 years, a downtown Minneapolis restaurant is shutting its doors.

Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar is closing at the end of the month.

Located along Nicollet Mall near the Minneapolis Convention Center, the restaurant has been popular with downtown visitors over the years.

No clear reason was given for the closure, but Ichiban is the third business to close since the start of the Nicollet Mall reconstruction, after Masa and Vincent.

The son of Ichiban's founder told the Star Tribune 36 years is a long time to do anything and they're sad it's coming to an end, but they're proud of what they accomplished.

The restaurant's final day is July 30.
