Ice Clogged Drains Causes Flooding At Minneapolis Church, School

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Monday's warm weather and clogged ice drains caused flooding at Trinity First Lutheran church and school on 11th Avenue South and East 19th Street in south Minneapolis.

Melting snow dripped through the roof and water ended up all over the school.

"It went all the way into our gym downstairs, into our classrooms and that's what happens sometimes when the sun comes out," director of community outreach Kurtis Smith said.

Many volunteers spent the afternoon on the roof, clearing drains and getting rid of snow.

Others worked inside to clean up the mess.

Some students may be able to attend class, but parents of students are advised to check for closures in the morning.
