Ice Castle Opens In Eden Prairie

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – While ice palaces aren't uncommon in Minnesota's winter landscape, you probably haven't seen an ice "castle" like this.

This frozen structure, unlike the ice palaces, isn't made with ice blocks. Instead, it's made of thousands of icicles, creating something that looks like a hallway through a glacier.

One of these castles, constructed by Brent Christensen with more than 20,000,000 pounds of ice, opened up in Eden Prairie this weekend. WCCO-TV's Kylie Bearse and photographer Brad Early got to check it out.

The castle will be open through March, or as long as the weather allows.

General admission is $12.95. For more on the ice castle, click here.
