1 Dead After Train Hits Truck In Baldwin, Wis.

BALDWIN, Minn. (WCCO) - One person is dead after a truck was struck by a train in Baldwin, Wis. on Wednesday afternoon, according to the St. Croix Sheriff's office.

The accident happened shortly before noon near a business on the 2200 block of U.S. Highway 12. A truck with two passengers left the business and headed north, but as they were crossing train tracks, they noticed an approaching westbound train.

The driver attempted to go in reverse, but the train ended up smashing in to the truck's passenger side.

The passenger was pronounced dead at Baldwin Area Medical Center. The driver survived but was hospitalized. Their names are being withheld until authorities can notify their families.

No one on the train was injured. The St. Croix County Sheriff's office is investigating.
