Gulbranson and the other driver, 22-year-old Shelby Davis of Willmar, exited their vehicles to exchange information on Highway 23's median following the crash.

Seventy-year-old Marvin Gulbranson, the Volvo driver's wife, then tried to exit the vehicle when both Gulbransons were struck and killed by a third vehicle.

That driver, 54-year-old Keven Henslin of Champlin, suffered non-life threatening injuries. Davis was not injured.

The Gulbransons, who were both from Spicer, were deacons at Hope Presbyterian Church.
