Hundreds Pay Tribute To Former 'CCO Weatherman Bud Kraehling

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Generations of WCCO viewers knew him simply as "Bud," the man who delivered weather reports in a down home, folksy way.

Bud Kraehling died June 3 at the age of 96.

On Saturday his family welcomed friends at a memorial celebration at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul.

Kraehling brought Minnesotans the weather for several decades. He was pure personality. His technology was dry erase maps, but he watched technology evolve along the way.

In 1958 he helped use the first weather radar in the Twin Cities.

Kraehling retired from WCCO in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, four daughters, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
