Man, 73, Found Dead After Hubbard County Boat Collision

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Crews have recovered the body of a man who went missing on a northern Minnesota lake after two boats collided Thursday evening.

The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office said a 14 foot aluminum boat carrying a 73-year-old man and two other men capsized after colliding with a bass fishing boat on Fish Hook Lake in Todd, Minnesota.

Crews searched the lake into Thursday night, but the search was suspended at dark. Friday morning, crew brought cadaver dogs on search boats and helicopters were searching from the air.

Around 2 p.m. Friday, the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office announced via their Facebook page that the 73-year-old's body was recovered from the lake.

One of the other men is believed to be hospitalized in the Twin Cities, the sheriff's office said. The two men in the bass fishing boat were not injured.

Hubbard County Sheriff Deputy Scott Parks said the cause of the accident is unknown, but alcohol was not a factor. The investigation continues.
