How To Keep Your Dog Calm During Fireworks

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Fourth of July can be scary for your dog.

The loud bang of fireworks and even the bright lights in the sky can make your pet stressed and anxious. Vicki Bjore with Chuck and Don's stopped by the WCCO This Morning show on Wednesday to provide some tips on how to keep your dog safe and calm during fireworks.

Bjore said one of the biggest keys to keeping your dog safe is if you're taking your pet to a show, bring plenty of toys with. Offer your dog something to set their attention elsewhere so they aren't scared by the loud noises and flashes. It's also a good idea to bring a bone with or something to chew on so to keep them occupied.

Another good idea is to tire your dog out somewhere before you head out. Take your dog to a park that's off-leash and let them run, getting out that energy.
