How Beginners Can Get Started In Yoga

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Sure you've heard of yoga, but why haven't you tried it yet? Jodi Sussner from YogaFit has been practicing for 20 years and has heard it all.

"People have this misconception that yoga is for people that are already flexible, already strong or for people who are more spiritual than they are. Yoga is for anybody," Sussner said.

It minimizes stress, improves flexibility, strengthens and is a great workout.

"It's meant to unify, it actually means to union: to unify your breath with your movement. By doing that, it stimulates parts of your brain that minimize stress and balances hormones. The extra benefit is that you get a good workout out of yoga as well," Sussner said.

There are many yoga studios in the Twin Cities, but Sussner is with YogaFit.

YogaFit Studios Excelsior is currently offering outdoor yoga class every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Excelsior by Lake Minnetonka.

Excelsior is the first location of an additional six that will be opening in the Twin Cities.
