Hot Dogs Are Minnesota's Most Popular Barbecue Item

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- We all have our favorites and least favorites at summer barbecues. Now, a study by Smoked Meat Sunday used geotagged Twitter data to track the most popular and most hated cookout foods by state.

The most popular in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and South Dakota: hot dogs. Only North Dakota went for hamburgers, among local states.

And the least favorite in Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota is potato salad, with Iowa and North Dakota giving the big "ick" to coleslaw.
