Police: Woman Driving Impaired Crashes Into Hopkins Apartment Building

HOPKINS, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 50-year-old woman was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of impaired driving after she hit an apartment building in Hopkins, according to police.

The Hopkins Police Department received a call about the incident at about 9:56 a.m. at an apartment building on the 400 block of 5th Ave. N. Authorities say the woman was driving the car when it crashed into the building.

Authorities say testing at the scene indicates she had a blood alcohol content of more than four times the legal limit for driving in Minnesota. That would mean a blood alcohol content of at least .32.

The damage to the vehicle appears to be minor, and there were no reports of injuries at the scene. The car didn't penetrate the wall, and the woman was the lone occupant of the vehicle. The woman has not been identified, but authorities say she did not live at the complex.

Authorities say it's another example of the dangers associated with impaired driving.
