Hill-Murray Cancels Monday Classes For Former Principal's Funeral

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Most Twin Cities students are heading back to school from holiday break on Monday, but Hill-Murray High School will remain closed for one extra day.

But it's not because of cold weather or snow. Classes are canceled Monday at Hill-Murray so that the school community can honor a man who brought more than 20 years of leadership to the school. Frank Asenbrenner, best known as "Mr. A," was a long-time principal, superintendent and music director at the school. He died on New Year's Eve at the age of 81.

Past colleagues and students are remembering his energy and enthusiasm, especially when it came to the music and theater programs. His visitation was Sunday night in Roseville. His funeral is at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Assumption in St. Paul.
