Highway 169 southbound reopens in Shakopee after fatal pedestrian crash, MnDOT says

Part of Highway 169 in the southwest metro was closed for hours Friday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed, officials said.

The Minnesota State Patrol said a driver hit a pedestrian on the highway's southbound side near Old Brick Yard Road just after 6 a.m. and the collision was fatal. No one in the vehicle was injured.  

Traffic was being diverted onto Old Brick Yard Road as authorities investigated the crash, but the highway reopened before 8:40 a.m.

Another pedestrian was fatally struck in the north metro city of St. Francis Friday morning.
