Twin Cities Firefighters Raise Money For Kids' Coats At 'Hero's Haul'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- In St. Paul Saturday, firefighters throughout the Twins Cities came together to help children in need.

At the Hero's Haul competition near the Xcel Energy Center, teams competed to pull a firetruck, supporting the nonprofit "Operation Warm." The organization supplies children with high quality new winter coats.

"As firefighters we go into these kids' house and it's pretty sad some of the living situations they're living in," Minneapolis firefighter Justin Johnson said. "We can really pinpoint the kids that need these coats."

According to "Operation Warm," about 25,000 children are living in poverty in Minneapolis alone.

The money raised in Saturday's challenge will go to elementary students in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Richfield.
