Hennepin Technical College's campus goes into lockdown after armed robbery

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — A man is in custody after police say an armed robbery sent Hennepin Technical College into lockdown Tuesday afternoon in Brooklyn Park.

Officers were called at about 12:30 p.m. to a report of a robbery outside the school, located on the 9000 block of Brooklyn Boulevard, according to Brooklyn Park police.

The suspect fled into the school, leading police and HTC officials to initiate a lockdown.

Police soon found the suspect hiding inside a bathroom and arrested him without incident.

The lockdown was lifted after a safety sweep of the campus.

Police say no one was hurt, and the suspect is expected to face aggravated robbery charges.
