Hennepin County Sheriff Talks Drug Prevention

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is hosting a forum to talk about ways adults can help prevent drug and alcohol use among teens.

The sheriff's office is teaming up with Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge and Shiloh Temple for the forum. It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Shiloh Temple International Ministries in Minneapolis.

The event is for parents and all other adults interested in drug prevention efforts.

The sheriff's office says heroin overdose deaths are on the rise and many people who are addicted to heroin first became addicted to opiates in prescription painkillers.

Authorities say anyone with unwanted and expired medications can bring them to the Tuesday night discussion for safe disposal.
