Hennepin County Sets Record For Absentee Ballots

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – With Election Day just two days away, many Minnesotans have already cast their ballots.

According to Hennepin County election officials, 173,000 absentee ballots have been received and accepted as of 5 p.m. Sunday. About nine percent of absentee voters registered at the time they submitted their ballots, and about 21 percent of pre-registered voters in Hennepin County have made their ballots official.

Election officials say the 173,000 absentee ballots cast is more than double the previous Hennepin County record. Back in 2008, 82,000 absentee ballots were cast. Monday is the last day for in-person absentee ballot voting.

If you're voting absentee by mail, your ballot must be received by Election Day to be counted.
