'Heat Up Minnesota' Gives Warmth To Families In Need

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- More than 30 Twin Cities families were given free warmth for the winter Saturday.

Heat Up Minnesota is a program that installs free high-efficiency furnaces for homeowners in need. Those homeowners are nominated for the program by a relative or friend.

Rick Ebner is one who received a new furnace today. He was nominated by his brother for battling multiple sclerosis for 22 years. Now he's moving to a new home with more accessibility.

"Very blessed to be around such good people and this is almost like a platform for me to help other people," Ebner said. "So it's been a good thing, there's always something good that comes out of bad situations."

This is the fourth year for Heat Up Minnesota. The installations are made on the first Saturday of October.
